Il fine settimana...

First time trying Limoncello
Friday concluded our first week at the Koine School, which was pretty stellar if I do say so myself. Our Canadian friend, Warren, had returned to class, and Lisa had just asked how to say something in plural, masculine form. Thinking on her feet, Maddelena (our teacher) used Warren to show the singular form, and then invented "Paul," who sat in an empty seat alongside Warren, to show us the plural form. Later on, when attempting to sit in that seat, Maddelena jumped up to say "Scusa Paul!" cracking up herself and everyone else in the room. She is absolutely hysterical.

Seeing how Lisa didn't like a single ingredient of the deviled eggs...
It was no surprise, she was not a fan.
Friday evening, we had our second Italian cooking class with Isabella. We learned how to make "Uova Ripene," similar to deviled eggs, with tuna fish, anchovies, mayo, egg yolk and cherry tomatoes. The first course was Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli, which was delicious, but ravioli is very tedious to make from scratch! The second course was slow-cooked rabbit and chicken. It was our first experience eating rabbit, and it turns out it isn't a preference of mine, although Lisa enjoyed it! The dessert was light, including fruit kebabs with mascarpone cheese... Yum!

Highlights of the meal included...

-Erling informing us "When I was younger I looked good in pictures, now that I'm older... I look better in real life."

-Isabella stating that she had "due bambini de chebo" (two food babies).

- The topic of television was brought up and someone mentioned watching cooking shows and Isabella responded saying something about "cooking shows" and "la pornogprahia." She repeated both words several times, which made it seem like she was talking about what she generally watches on tv. Having seen her just watch the World Cup soccer games, Lisa mentioned "e il futbol?" Isabella gave her a weird glance, and said something along the lines of "yeah, sometimes I watch football." At Viareggio, we asked Lydia what Isabella was talking about the night before, and found out she dislikes watching cooking shows, referring to them as "food pornography." Lisa and I immediately starting laughing, as we had majorly misunderstood that conversation, thinking Isabella liked watching "cooking shows" and "pornography."

VIAREGGIO

There isn't a lot to say about Saturday, other than that Lisa and I spent it relaxing at Viareggio Beach, about 20 minutes west of Lucca. Viareggio is located along the Mediterranean Sea, so we were able to say we touched another body of water!  We ran into our Austrian friend Lydia while heading onto the train, who joined us in our day of relaxation. Here are a few photos of our day...
